Tokyo Budget Stay Uncovered|Via Inn Oimachi: 5min to Station & Room Fits over 2x 29” Luggage 😆🏨✨
Booking.com says 7.8/10? Here’s my budget Tokyo hotel stay that felt like more! 🌟
Hi everyone, Hattie here 👋 Welcome to my little corner of the internet. Whenever I travel abroad, I see “hotels” as my little budget bunker. My rule is simple—why splurge on a place I’ll only sleep in? In Tokyo, my days are jam-packed with food, sights, and exploring. At night, I just need somewhere clean, safe, comfy, and close to the station. That’s it. Facilities like pools or gyms? Honestly, I never have time for them 😆
For this trip, I stayed at Via Inn Shinagawa Oimachi in Oimachi, right near Shinagawa. And let me start with the conclusion: Booking.com gives it a 7.8, but I swear it deserves higher.
Location: Just 5 Minutes to the Station 🚶♀️

The hotel sits less than 5 minutes from Oimachi Station.
• Heading into central Tokyo? Easy routes and no painful transfers.
• Heading south? I had day trips to Atami and Izu. Changing trains at Shinagawa was smooth—no need to squeeze into the chaos of Tokyo Station.
The result? Busy days sightseeing, and then a quiet, stress-free night’s sleep. This balance was perfect for me 🧭
Check-In & Facilities: Super Automated 🧾

Check-in was through a self-service machine. Just scan, input info, and done. There’s even a Chinese/ English option—smooth as butter.
Need to drop bags early? They have self-service lockers with password codes. No waiting for staff, no awkward timing. Freedom unlocked.
Some online reviews said the front desk staff weren’t super friendly. Honestly? I found them fine, just not super chatty. But hey, travelers should be happy, not nitpicky 😉
Laundry: A True Travel Lifesaver 🧺📺
The hotel has a laundry room, but here’s the genius part—you can check the washer status on your room TV. Is it free? How much time left? No need to trek downstairs 10 times. I stayed during peak season and never had to wait. Small touch, huge time saver.
Room Space: 2 Adults + 1 Kid + 2x 29” Luggage = Still Walking Room‼️

Compared to my previous stay in Sumida, Via Inn felt roomier. For two adults and one child, it never felt claustrophobic.
The highlight: two 29” suitcases could be laid flat open—AND we still had walking space. In Tokyo, that’s almost luxury 🥹

Beds were comfy, pillows fine, and after 4 nights straight, no sore back. Honestly, maybe all Japanese beds are just secretly magical.
Bathroom: Compact but Efficient 🛁

Japanese business hotels are all about efficiency. The bathroom was small but spotless. My son even took baths almost every night. After walking 10,000+ steps daily, a soak cut our fatigue by half.
Of course, there’s a bidet toilet—Japan’s iconic hotel feature. For first-timers, it’s a fun surprise.
Price: Even in Summer, Super Affordable 🧮
I stayed 4 nights for a total of ¥51,696. That’s about ¥12,924 per night, or ~ USD $80 per night—and this was peak summer, for 3 people!
Many Japanese hotels charge extra for kids, but here, the cost stayed sweet. With location + comfort + sleep quality, this price was a steal.
Food & Convenience: 7-Eleven Below, Eateries Nearby 🥐🍜

Downstairs? A 7-Eleven. Midnight snack or hot soup cravings solved instantly.
Nearby restaurants were plenty, but note:
• Breakfast: Japan doesn’t have Taiwan-style breakfast shops. Instead, you’ve got Matsuya or Denny’s nearby.
Food highlight: Menya Homura (麵屋焰)

I ordered salt ramen—not even a ramen maniac, yet it was amazing. The broth was sooo good. My friend almost went back for a second round. The owner spoke zero English, but with gestures and guesswork, we managed 🤣
