UGG Sizing & Buying Guide (2026): Bea Mary Jane vs. Tazz Slipper, Platform Boots & Best Holiday Deals 🧸✨
The Ultimate Cozy Girl Dilemma: Which Platform UGG Should You Buy & How Do They Actually Fit? ☁️
Hello everyone~ I’m Hattie💛 For years, I successfully resisted the UGG trend because I always thought classic sheepskin boots were too bulky and way too warm unless it was freezing outside. That all changed the moment I unboxed my very first pair of UGG Bea Mary Janes from Cettire. They are shockingly lightweight, give my 5’2″ (159cm) frame an effortless leg-lengthening boost, and are hands-down the cutest shoes in my closet!
However, whenever the holiday shopping season rolls around, my DMs are flooded with the exact same questions:
- “Hattie, both the Bea Mary Jane and the Tazz Slipper have that low, shallow heel rim—why do people complain about heel slippage in the Tazz, and does the Mary Jane slip off too?”
- “Since the sheepskin lining is so thick, should I size up if I want to wear thick winter socks?”
- “Can I wear classic UGG platform boots on a real snow trip?”
Today, I’m breaking down the 5 most viral UGG styles—including my honest wear-test of the Bea Mary Jane—along with foolproof sizing rules, a crucial snow-trip warning, and a live price comparison table so you can score your size before they sell out this holiday season! 👇

🤎 Before You Buy: 3 Essential UGG Sizing & Weather Rules
Ordering UGGs online can feel tricky because that plush 17mm twinface sheepskin lining creates a very snug initial fit. Before adding to cart, keep these three rules in mind:
- The “Vamp Strap vs. Open Mule” Sizing Rule:
- If you plan to wear your UGGs barefoot, taking your True to Size (TTS) will give you that cozy, cloud-like hug once the wool molds to your foot after 3–5 wears.
- However, if you want to style them with chunky knit socks, leg warmers, or ruffled crew socks like I do, definitely size up half a size (or go up to the next whole size if you are between sizes)!
Why the Bea Mary Jane Stays On Better Than the Tazz (Even With the Same Shallow Heel!):
- Look closely at the back of the Bea Mary Jane and the Tazz Slipper, and you’ll notice they actually share the exact same low, shallow raised heel rim (neither is a fully enclosed boot).
- Yet, why do so many people experience heel slippage in the Tazz while my Mary Janes stay glued to my feet? It’s all about the Mary Jane vamp strap across the top of the foot! In an open-top mule like the Tazz, your toes subconsciously have to grip the footbed to keep the heavy platform from flipping down. In the Bea Mary Jane, that cute top strap anchors your instep securely against the footbed—even when I dangle my feet in the air with my toes completely relaxed, the shoe doesn’t budge an inch!
- The honest truth: NO! Despite being called “snow boots” by many, classic suede UGGs and platform slippers are designed for dry, cold weather, not slushy snow or icy streets.
- Traditional UGG suede is not waterproof (melting snow will soak through and leave water stains), and the lightweight EVA foam outsole has very little traction on wet ice.
- What to do if you’re heading to the snow: I honestly do not recommend wearing regular UGGs in heavy snow (for deep snow, check out my review of the Moon Boot Icon & Snow boots instead!). If you must wear your UGGs to a snowy destination, you must coat them thoroughly with a Suede Waterproofing & Stain Repellent Spray beforehand and attach Slip-On Ice Cleats / Snow Grips to the soles so you don’t slip!
🧸 Top 5 UGG Styles Reviewed & Compared for Petites
1. UGG Bea Mary Jane: Zero Heel Slippage & The Ultimate Petite Boost (My #1 Pick 👑)
With the rise of the Coquette and Balletcore aesthetics, Mary Janes have taken over—and UGG nailed the assignment by blending their iconic sheepskin trim with a chunky Mary Jane silhouette.
Weight & Walkability: Seeing that thick 1.75-inch platform online, I expected them to feel like bricks. When my Cettire box arrived, I genuinely thought they sent me an empty box because they are feather-light! Because the top strap holds your foot in place against the shallow heel cup, there is zero toe-gripping fatigue—you can walk 10,000+ steps shopping all day with zero discomfort.
Do Your Feet Get Too Sweaty? Because the Mary Jane cutout leaves the top of your instep exposed (unlike a fully enclosed boot), air actually circulates! I’ve worn these in mild 70°F (22°C) weather—my feet felt warm and cozy without overheating or smelling at all. Paired with ruffled white socks or baggy light-wash jeans, they elongate my 5’2″ legs effortlessly.

2. UGG Tazz Platform Slipper: The Off-Duty Street Style Icon
If you’ve seen Bella Hadid or Gigi Hadid grabbing coffee in winter, you’ve seen the UGG Tazz. It upgrades the classic Tasman slipper with a bold 1.75-inch platform and signature braided detailing around the collar.
- Why People Love It: It provides full coverage over the top of your foot (making it slightly warmer than the Mary Jane on chilly mornings) and slides on in one second flat with sweatpants or leggings.
- Fit Advice: As mentioned earlier, both the Tazz and the Mary Jane feature a low back rim, but because the Tazz lacks an instep strap, buying your exact size can cause your heel to ride up onto the back edge as you walk. Size up 0.5 to 1 full size so your heel sits deep inside the plush footbed!

3. UGG Classic Ultra Mini Platform: Maximum Ankle-Grazing Warmth
For crisp, dry winter days when you want full 360-degree sheepskin warmth without chopping your leg line in half, the Classic Ultra Mini Platform is a game-changer for petites.
- Why “Ultra Mini” Beats the Classic Mini: A standard mid-calf UGG boot hits right where the calf muscle widens. The Ultra Mini has a 3.5-inch shaft height that cuts right below the ankle bone—the narrowest part of your leg! Combined with a 2-inch platform, it makes your legs look miles long.
- Fit Advice: The ankle opening is quite narrow when brand new. Always use the back pull-tab to slide your foot in!Take your True to Size, or go up half a size if you have high arches/insteps.

4. UGG Disquette & Funkette: Extra Fluffy Cloud Slippers
If you love the look of exposed, over-the-top fluffy sheepskin cuffs, meet the sister styles:
- Disquette: An open-back mule with a 1-inch retro platform and a lush shearling collar.
- Funkette: Features a taller 2-inch platform plus a stretchy elastic UGG logo backstrap. That elastic strap keeps the slipper from flying off, but it also pushes your foot forward toward the toe box—so definitely size up one full size in the Funkette!

5. UGG Goldenstar Clog: The Fur-Free, All-Season Alternative
Love the suede platform aesthetic of UGGs, but live in a warmer climate (like California, Texas, or Asia) where shearling makes your feet sweat? The Goldenstar Clog is your answer.
- Why It’s Genius: It has zero fur lining inside—instead, it features a breathable, cushioned contoured footbed and a swivel heel strap that can be worn flipped up as a slip-on clog or flipped back as a secure ankle-strap sandal!
