Tokyo Winter Outfit Guide: 3 Travel Looks + Airport Fit 💛❄️📸(part.2)
Warm base layers + cool outerwear, made for 20k Tokyo steps ✨
Hi everyone—Hattie here💛 If you saw my last post, you already know I’m serious about Tokyo winter outfits: I want them to match the weather, be easy to move in, and most importantly… look cute in travel photos. Because yes, the photos matter. A lot. 📸
This post is the continuation—three more outfits (Day 3–5) from my winter Tokyo trip.
Quick Tokyo Winter Weather Notes (for planning) ❄️
Tokyo winter usually sits around the 30s–50s°F (0–10°C-ish) depending on the day, plus wind that can make you feel personally attacked. So I plan outfits like this:
• Base layer: warm + breathable (Heattech forever)
• Outerwear: wind-blocking and photo-friendly
• Shoes: comfortable enough for 20,000+ steps (Tokyo will humble you)
Alright—let’s get into Day 3–5 Tokyo winter outfit ideas.
Day 3: “Cute but Make It Risky” (Fleece Turtleneck + Track Jacket + Shorts) ❄️😆

Day 3 was my “beauty over comfort (but not fully suffering)” moment. The key was: insulate the inside, then act cool on the outside.
✅ Base Layer: Uniqlo Fleece Turtleneck Heattech
My innermost layer was a Uniqlo fleece turtleneck Heattech top. It has a bit more thickness, and the stretch is good (but the cashmere Heattech is even stretchier and softer).
What I love most: the neckline. The turtleneck stacks nicely (“the cozy scrunch”), keeps you warmer, and looks intentional—even if you’re just wearing it under everything.

✅ Mid Layer: Italy National Team Track Jacket 🩵

Over that, I wore an Italy national team track suit jacket—I’m obsessed with Italy soccer kits because they’re always so pretty. Sadly… they didn’t qualify for the next World Cup and I’m still processing that emotionally 🥲
I’ll share my favorite places to buy jerseys + how I style them in another post.
✅ Bottoms: One Teaspoon Denim Shorts (yes, in winter) 🙈

My shorts were One Teaspoon denim shorts. I loved my light-wash pair so much I bought another in a deeper shade. In photos it looks almost black, but in real life it’s more like that perfect in-between deep navy/black tone.
My favorite detail is the folded hem that shows the pocket lining—like:
“I threw this on casually”
…but actually, it’s giving details. 😆

✅ Shoes + Leg Warmers = The Real MVP 🧦🔥

The shoes were bought in Japan (I’ll post them later!), and they were genuinely walk-all-day comfortable and still looked cool.

And I have to shout out the leg warmers. You slip them on over another pair of socks, so it’s warm on warm—but the best part is how naturally they “stack” on the shoe without sliding down or needing constant adjusting. If it’s extra cold, you can pull them up to just under the knee and they still stay put.
Day 3 Outfit Summary:
Warm base layer + sporty track jacket + shorts = a winter look that’s surprisingly wearable… if you’re brave 😇❄️
Day 4: Puffy Jacket + Wide Barrel Pants (Big Silhouette, Still Cool) 🧸✨

This day was freezing, and I truly forgot what I wore underneath until I looked at photos later😆
(That’s winter travel for you—outerwear becomes the main character, and inner layers are just there so you don’t turn into an icicle.)
Under the jacket, I had a sparkly bright pink sweater, which was honestly a fun hidden detail. But visually, the outfit was all about the puffer + pants shape.
✅ The Outerwear: Cute Blue Puffer

I already shared this blue jacket in a previous post, but I still love it so much. In winter, everyone tends to wear darker colors, so a playful blue stands out in photos and feels extra cheerful.

✅ The Pants: BDG Barrel Pants (Wide but Not Messy)

These are BDG barrel pants, and barrel-leg styles are everywhere lately—for good reason. They’re roomy, comfortable, and easy to walk in, but still structured enough to look styled.
I recommend them because:
• The width doesn’t restrict movement at all
• The silhouette feels “fashion” without trying too hard
• It can actually help your proportions look more balanced
And here’s the big myth: pairing wide pants with a puffer doesn’t automatically make you look like a marshmallow from head to toe. Done right, it’s cozy volume with shape—like “cool girl with curves,” not “lost in fabric.” 😌
I wore a size S and it was still roomy, so you can consider sizing down.

Day 4 Outfit Summary:
Statement puffer + barrel pants = warm and walkable (even if you’re just grabbing convenience store snacks)🧸✨

Day 5: Airport Outfit (So Comfy I Could Nap Instantly) 🛫😴

Airport outfits should be two things:
1. Comfortable enough to sit forever
2. Presentable enough to take “last day” photos without regret 😆
✅ Base Layer: Uniqlo Turtleneck (Comfort King)

My turtleneck was Uniqlo again. Uniqlo basics always feel like they’re designed by someone who understands real life: comfortable, functional, breathable, warm.
And yes—I’m a Heattech loyalist.
My two favorite Uniqlo Heattech types are:
• Cashmere Heattech: softest, thinnest, super stretchy, warm but not stuffy
• Fleece/Brushed Heattech Turtleneck: a bit thicker, super soft, and that stacked turtleneck is cute and easy to style

✅ Shoes: Salomon Sneakers + Layered Socks ⚡🧦

Shoes were Salomon (I love the sporty lightning detail), and I layered two pairs of socks—partly for warmth, partly because I wanted the socks to balance the light top with the darker shoes.

Day 5 Outfit Summary:
Heattech base + comfy layers + legit walking shoes = airport outfit that feels like pajamas but photographs like an outfit. 🛫✨
🌟Hattie’s Wrap-Up: Tokyo Winter Outfits = Walkable + Warm + Photo-Ready 💛❄️📸
So that’s my Tokyo winter travel outfits (Day 3–5) done! If you only remember three things, make it these:
1) Warmth starts with base layers
A good base layer changes everything. You can wear a cute outer layer and still stay warm, instead of piling on bulky sweaters and feeling stiff.
2) Outerwear is the “main character”
In winter, your coat is what people see in every photo. If you’re going to invest in one thing, invest in a coat/jacket that’s:
• warm enough for wind
• easy to layer under
• cute in photos (because you’ll wear it constantly)
3) Tokyo = walking Olympics
Choose shoes you can genuinely walk in all day. Tokyo steps are no joke—20k is normal—so your footwear has to perform, not just pose. 😆
I’ll share more soon (shoes + soccer jersey shopping platforms + styling ideas), so you can be warm and look cool doing it. 💛✨
